Welcome to another Vance's Big Review about something! I know you've been anxiously awaiting this moment, where Vance reviews just about anything, and well, here you go: Vances' Big Review of Tangier, Spain, and Morocco by Vance!**
Part 1
So, me (Vance), Mashie, Souxie, and The Daminator went on a little trip to Europe and Africa. I know! 2 weeks with TD? But, it was kew. He barely got sick of me the whole time. We are actually pretty compatible travel companions, since we all like to eat, drink, and see stuff. AND, most of us like to take a nap, if the mood strikes. They are also amenable (mos'ly) to my penchant for border hopping whenever there's a chance. This trait of mine led to a 2 day excursion to Tangier which turned out to be kew, and of which you know I'm gonna tell you some stuff.
You can see Africa from some parts of Southern Spain. It takes an hour by ferry to get there, so I was thinkin', "Hell, yeah! That's a must do for Vance and anyone else who wants to tag along!" I expected resistance from certain quarters, but was determined to do it by my own self if everyone else wanted to bake at the beach. After all, I usually have the car keys! I might not be able to outrun Mashie, but Vance can be capable of stealth whenever necessary, and the cause is righteous.
Turns out, everyone thought it was a Good Plan! Score! Chalk up another new country and a new continent to boot. Life's good when you're Vance! But, this is getting ahead of the story.
All these places are kew. We went to Portugal first, after a one night stopover in Madrid. We took one of those tp tube of death turboprops from Madrid to Porto. Porto was very nice. We all loved it. And it was cooler than Spain (not more kew: less hot, icyw).
We stayed in a Boutique hotel (Vance and Boutique? I know, WTF? But Mashie has style.)
It was an ancient Palacio, and was right at the riverfront where it all happens. Before you get all bent out of shape for being missle-d, I'm offering up the information that this picture was take at different palacio Boutique hotel.
East Hampton's main drag on a Saturday night in summer is not Vance's particular cup of tea. Thousands of tourists jamming the gelato stands and shops and milling about aimlessly tends to be off-putting. Why are we talking about East Hampton? It's my benchmark for this kina thing. Unavoidable in tourist season anywhere, so one must soldier on. There was a bit of this during the whole vaycay, so I'm getting the complaining over with here. From now on, I'll just insert an (EH) when deserved.
Porto has great food and wine, and of course, the Port Lodges where famous Port wines come from. There's Sandeman, Graham, Cockburn (Heh. Had some of that climbing those hills!), and many others. We went to a couple. I can't drink more than a couple small glasses, though. The Port Lodge side of the river is uncrowded, esp at night after they close, and it's a relief to walk along the river over there. We did a river cruise and many other fun and educational things there which are none of your business so don't ask. OK! OK! One of them was sunset at the top of the bridge (EH).
Be sure to stay tuned for Part 2 of Vance's Big Review of Tangier, Spain, and Portugal by Vance!***
If I do one.....
* Remember! Vance's Big Reviews are not always by Vance. Those not by Vance are might not be as good, or kew.
** Same thing as * and ***.
*** You know.
